War Room Graphic

Recently I attended a pre-screening of War Room.  If you haven’t heard of this movie, allow me to share a little about this fantastic film.  The Kendrick brothers are amazingly talented men of God who have a gift and calling to bring faith-based films to the big screen.  Not only are they talented film makers, their movies are absolutely on target for Biblical doctrine.

Their first movie was Fly Wheel.  This movie starred Alex Kendrick who played a used car salesman who will do anything to sell a car, and that’s exactly what he does.  You can read more about this film and even purchase it on Amazon: Purchase Fly Wheel.

Their second movie was Facing the Giants.  This movie also starred Alex Kendrick as a losing high school football coach with an underdog football team who faces their giants of fear and failure on and off the field to surprising results.  You can read more about this film and purchase it here: Purchase Facing the Giants.

Their third feature film was Fireproof.  This movie starred Kirk Cameron as a firefighter struggling with porn and trying to save his marriage.  You can read more about this film and purchase it here: Fireproof.

Their fourth feature film was Courageous.  This movie also starred Alex Kendrick as a police officer who encourages his friends to become men of courage after heart breaking struggles.  You can read more about it and purchase it here: Courageous.  Their fifth and most recent film is War Room.

FireProof is one movie that I actually saw Clay become emotional in.  If you have followed this blog for long you have probably read about Clay’s prior struggle with porn.  If not, you can read more about it on my blog:

That movie came out as Clay was trying to overcome his addiction and it was so powerful to both of us.  I still love it to this day.  It was a HUGE help in continuing to fight the porn addiction and also showed me that continuing to forgive was absolutely vital to our marriage.  After we saw Fireproof we saw Courageous.  This was again perfect timing!  Clay had overcome his porn addiction and Courageous was just what he needed to step up his walk with God and our family. He even attended an event at our church at the time back in WA where he signed an agreement for our household.  His contract was to be a man of courage and lead his family.

Here we have War Room and all I can say is “WOW!!”  The Kendrick brothers’ movies get better with each film they create.  War Room is a movie about prayer.  However, it isn’t your usual “sermon” on prayer – say a prayer, give thanks for your food, pray for this person, etc.  Instead, this movie is about being a prayer warrior and developing a warriors battle plan for how to pray, what to pray and who to pray for so that you can give absolutely soul moving prayers!

I sat watching War Room and the whole time I kept wanting to yell “YES YES YES!”  This movie had such an emotionally moving story line.  It was about a family who was deeply struggling until the wife, who is played by none other than Priscilla Shrier, runs into what will end up becoming her Titus 2 mentor.  Now I don’t want to give too much of the movie away, but this movie was so realistic.  It hit home on MANY levels.  We took all of our kids with us (ages 6, 8 and 11) and they all three loved it!

I was inspired by this movie from the beginning to the end.  If you haven’t seen the preview for the movie you can check it out here:

Here are some graphics that explain how powerful this movie is:

War Room-2

There was a scene in this movie that left me speechless. The scene contained a wall of remembrance so that answered prayers can be remembered.  This wall of remembrance is a focal point of the house.  How often do we have a tendency to forget the mighty works of God?  Sometimes it is easy to remember the big things He has given us – a house, car, employment – but what about the other, smaller requests?  This wall really struck a chord in me!  So much so that after the movie, Stephen Kendrick emailed me a picture of the wall specifically for this review.

Yes!  Stephen Kendrick emailed me a picture of the wall of remembrance.  Before I continue, allow me to explain how THAT happened.  After the movie, we learned that both Stephen and Alex Kendrick was in the movie theater watching the pre-screen with us!  We got the opportunity to meet them, photo opportunity, ask questions, autographs and that’s when Stephen Kendrick showed me the wall from his personal phone.  It was great meeting both of them!  How cool is that?  I also am so glad that I have this picture because I am going to print it out to hang up as a reminder.

Here is the Wall of Remembrance:

As the movie ended, my middle son leaned over to us and asked why we didn’t have a prayer room.  I had honestly never thought of having one before this movie.  So I told him we would see what we could do to fix that.  He wants his own prayer closet in his room.  While it isn’t feasible to take everything out of his closest, it is large enough to at least use a portion for his prayer room.  Of course if he has a prayer room, then it’s only fair for the rest of us to have one.  LOL!  We are currently trying to figure out how to make this happen in each child’s room.  We also have a sun room that I haven’t been quite sure what I want to do with, so we decided we are going to make a prayer closet in there for the family.  I can’t wait to hang the picture of the Wall of Remembrance in there, start my own wall, and also have an area to go into, post prayers on the walls, and spend time with the Lord.

If you are undecided about going to see War Room, GO!!!  It is a must see movie!

Now, I mentioned that we got to meet Stephen and Alex Kendrick.  Believe it or not, in the Nashville area, we are introduced with many opportunities to meet well-known musicians, actors/actresses, movie directors/producers and basically well-known stars.  Needless to say it was really cool of them to spend time with all of the invitees at the movie!  They spent a lot of time mingling after the show and talking with movie goers.  It was a really blessed time!

My husband is really picky about movies and he just loves all of the Kendrick brothers movies.  So much so that he said if they need someone to cast in the future, to call him. 🙂

I give War Room a 5 star review!  Don’t miss this film!  It is the must see movie of the year! Oh wait! Here is the trailer for the movie. 🙂 UPDATE: It is now out on DVD! Get it here: War Room DVD!
