The Attributes of God
January is so close and with it comes a new focus and new study for our Journal Through the Bible Studies. This past January we dove right in and studied the Names of God.
I thought we’d kick off 2018 by studying and learning the Attributes of God. What better way to kick off the new year with new changes and resolutions to be more like our Savior?
What are the characteristics or attributes of God? I am going to talk about the qualities of God that are His very nature. I have compiled a list of God’s attributes below to help you draw nearer when you pray, meditate and grow deeper in your faith and walk, and to see Him for who He is and the love He has for each and every one of us.
God is infinitely far above our ability to fully grasp and understand. We can read in Scriptures how powerful and true His word is. Below you will see a list of attributes that you can pray and meditate to grow deeper and focus on God and His character.
The Bible says to praise God for who He is and do this through prayer. By reading through and seeing all the attributes of God, you can expand your prayer from more than just love and wisdom, you can concentrate on all His attributes.
Attributes Of God
By simply speaking, God can create something from nothing. In the scripture, you will see time and time again how God is all-powerful (Psalms 33:6-9). Nothing is impossible when God is in control.
God makes no mistakes. He knows what is best for us and when things need to happen. He is all-knowing, and we have to realize his decisions and his way come at the perfect time.
No matter what we are going through, God is always present in our life. He will be with us on the hardest days and the best days of our lives, and never waiver.
God knows no boundaries and is without measure. God is infinite.
Perfect moral purity, no sin or evil will be found in God. He is holiness, and pure.
God Is Good
God is the embodiment of perfect goodness to all of us. He is loving, kind, and full of favor and grace.
God Is Love
The love God has for us is beyond what we can comprehend. He sacrificed his only Son to bring us into fellowship with him. He embraces us in love, and he is love.
Everything that God has promised to us will come to pass. He does not lie and will always be faithful to us. What you read in the Bible is true.
God does not lie, what you read in the Bible is the truth.
God is Just
He is righteous and holy in all things. You can trust in Him that he has your best interest in mind.
God’s merciful compassion is something that never runs out. When we turn to him he is always there.
When we need comfort we can always turn to God. He is always there bringing us peace and strength and love when we need it most.
God is our father, the creator of heaven and earth. We are all his children.
Also, I have had many requests for us to try a book of the month. I am thrilled to kick this off with the new year!!! So this month for January 2018, the book of the month is “Full” Food, Jesus and the Battle For Satisfaction. I know this doesn’t have anything to do with the Attributes of God.
However, as we approach New Years it is a good time to get back on track with eating habits after the Holidays. I personally have struggled with food and up and down weight gain/loss.
Focus is my word for the year, which you will read more about later. One thing I need to focus on though is my health. If you want to join us, here is the books and study guide. I will be starting Jan 2nd.
I had issues with this month’s schedule. I found 39 verses that I wanted to cover but only had 31 days to do it. LOL! Rather than making the painstaking decision to omit verses, I decided to include them all!
Now it is up to you to pick which ones you want to leave off from your study, or decide to add in the extra verses and cover them all! That is what I will be doing. 🙂 Click here or the image below to grab your schedule for FREE! Don’t forget to grab the FREE Scripture cards that match up to our study this month. : )
