When visiting the local carnival or fair, visiting the vendors and eating the food is an absolute must. From tamed food such as hot dogs and fries to less tamed food such as fried Twinkies and cheese steak sandwiches bigger than your head, you can believe that there isn’t anything quite like the food that you can get at the state fair. But what happens if you have those cravings and don’t have the option for a fair in your area? All that means is that you take matters into your own hands and create your own delicious treat!

Could you use pancakes in place of waffles?

If you want to give it a try, go ahead! The pancakes will just need to be thick enough to hold the filling. As long as you can bend them in half to be able to make the Taco shape, they should work out just fine!

What if you can’t find gluten-free waffles to buy?

So our reason for gluten-free may not be the same reason as everyone else. Ours has to do with the fact that my youngest has a soy allergy. We have found that if we can start looking for gluten-free foods, often times we will find a soy free alternative as well. It doesn’t always work like that, but in this case it did. However, if you do not need gluten-free or cannot find them there’s another option.

Why not try to make your own? Depending on your geographical location, your local grocer may not carry gluten-free waffles. If that’s the case, no need to worry. All you need to do is simply make your own homemade waffles. Even if you have a pancake recipe that you love and adore, that will work just fine! Just add it to your waffle maker instead!

Can you store leftovers in the fridge?

Great question! While you might be tempted to just pop them in the fridge to keep until later, it’s just not going to be cold enough to keep them in a frozen state. Instead put them in a sealable container and place them in the freezer. When you’re ready to eat them, they’ll be rock solid frozen like they’re supposed to be!
