I think as we get older, we appreciate the ease and beauty of Pimento Cheese. The keyword here is “older.” I remember as a child, pimento cheese looked, smelled, and tasted disgusting. Maybe it’s because I was just being stubborn or maybe it’s because I just didn’t have this recipe on hand to refer to!

Whatever the case, I’m making up for the lost years of denying myself this delicacy and keeping it readily available for consumption. I love that I can alter this recipe so that everyone in the family can enjoy it. Even my kids!

Being able to use soy-free mayo means that it’s fine for my household to eat, which is great. I really enjoy creating recipes that we can all eat together rather than adjusting ingredients or making something else for my youngest son, who has a soy allergy, to enjoy.

Is Pimento Cheese spicy?

Even though there is a bit of cayenne pepper added to this recipe, I promise you it’s not hot. It might have a bit of a slow burn, but nothing too over the top. And if you’re worried about the heat, just omit it and go on with the recipe.

The cayenne pepper isn’t going to make or break this recipe if you’re worried about the spiciness.

How long does it take to soften cream cheese?

The easiest way is to remove it from the fridge and let it soften to room temperature. Depending on how cold you have your refrigerator set, it could take as little to 30 minutes to upwards of an hour. But 30 minutes is usually enough time that it becomes easy to mix, stir, and use.

What do you pair with Pimento cheese?

Anything you want! Is it shameful to admit that I like to eat it with a spoon? But in all reality, you can pair it with a nice veggie tray, some homemade bread, or just put it on some crackers

Tips for Making Pimento Cheese Spread

This recipe isn’t difficult, but there are a few tips that I want to share with you that I’ve learned along the way.

If the cream cheese is softened enough, you should be able to mix this by hand. But if it’s not, using a mixer is going to be your best bet. The last thing that you want is to have chunks of cream cheese in the mixture. Smooth is key.

Save the pimento juice for something extra! That might sound a bit crazy but it’s actually a great salty addition to other dishes. I’ve put a splash of it in my V8 drink in the morning and have also added it to chicken salad and tuna salad for a salty addition.
