Fourth Of July Pizza

Before you think I’m creating a sacrilegious act on the barbecue season, keep reading. I’m not trying to replace the decadent aroma of succulent barbecued meats with pizza.

But I will tell you this Fourth of July Pizza recipe is incredibly simple and will be a lovely addition to your Independence Day celebrations.

Fourth of July Pizza Recipe

With just 5 simple ingredients, you can have this prepared and waiting to be devoured before the Star-Spangled Banner has finished playing. And if you’re lucky enough to have a garden, get some of your fresh strawberries and add them to this dessert!

There’s nothing like the fresh flavors of in-season fruit! While I’ll always buy fruit all year round at the store, I crave those delicious bites of fruit that I get from our own garden. So many think that fruit is fruit and it all tastes the same no matter its origins. However, growing your own fruits and vegetables will change your mind for sure.

There’s just something different about a fruit that I planted, watered, cared for, and eventually harvested that makes the taste go from good to excellent! If there was a way to grow strawberries all year long, I’d be in my garden during frigid temperatures in the snow harvesting!

What else can you use as a dessert crust for this fruit pizza recipe?

You’re going to want to keep it simple. I LOVE using the premade dough because it saves me a ton of time. But this recipe is versatile and allows for changes to be made to suit everyone’s needs and palates.

Using premade sugar cookie dough is super fun, too. You just have to roll it out with a rolling pin and thin it out a bit to make it easy to cook.

I’ve also been known to make a mini version of this recipe by using a graham cracker as the base and fruit on top of that. You can always do what works for your family!

How to make American Flag Fruit Pizza

First, you need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray the baking sheet with the cooking spray.

Now roll the crescent rolls out in one solid sheet onto the baking pan and press the seams together.

You will want to bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown and cooked through. Let cool completely.

While you’re waiting for the crescent sheet to cool, place the powdered sugar and cream cheese in a large mix bowl and use a hand mixer to beat the ingredients until smooth. Then set aside.

Last, slice your strawberries into about ¼-inch thick rounds.

Take a rubber spatula or butter knife and put a thin layer of the frosting mixture over the entire top of the crescent sheet.

After that, line your blueberries up in the upper left corner in 4 rows of 5.

Place a dollop of the cream cheese mixture in a frosting bag with the #860 tip (smallest one) and put little stars in between where the blueberries meet. This takes very little frosting.

Line up your strawberries. When doing this you will make 4 separate rows, starting at the very top, and leaving about ½ an inch in between each line.

Now you’re ready to place the rest of the cream cheese mixture in a frosting bag with the #865 tip and place large dollops in the spaces between the strawberry lines. Enjoy!

Tips for Making Strawberry Pizza with Blueberries

It’s pretty hard to get the crescent dough to come out perfectly straight. If this is super important to you, you can slightly cut the edges around the dough sheet to make it as even as possible.

You can use store-bought white frosting instead of the cream cheese mixture if desired.

The strawberries and blueberries come in various sizes, you’ll just have to play with the slices to get them to fit perfectly.

The tips I used are French star tips, but you can use any tip you like. I just enjoyed the look these tips added to the finished recipe.

How to store leftover fruit pizza

If you’re lucky enough to have some of this fruit pizza leftover, you’re going to need to store it in the fridge. All you need to do is put a lid on it and keep it out of the air. This way it stays fresh for the next time you’re ready to enjoy it.

Can you use frozen fruit for this recipe?

I wouldn’t. Frozen fruit is going to bleed all over the rest of the pizza and will end up having it look like a huge mess. Fresh fruit is best so that you don’t have extra juice and liquid bleeding into the rest of the finished product.

What other fruit can you use for this recipe?

As long as the fruit is red or blue, go for it! I’ve even used blackberries for this recipe. Since you’re trying to stick with the red, white, and blue theme, use fruit that is those colors for the flag.

See how simple it can be to make this fourth of July pizza? It’s such a fast and easy recipe that is perfect for an Independence Day sweet!
