What is the difference between Cosori and the countless other pressure cookers on the market? That’s a great question. It’s also one of the biggest questions people have when discovering new kitchen appliances.
If you’re new to the technologically advanced pressure cooker world or even considering venturing out and trying something new, this guide will help you navigate through all the buttons and “how to” questions with the Cosori Pressure Cooker.
How to use a Cosori Pressure Cooker
Your Cosori Pressure Cooker has arrived, but now what?! I see all these beautiful recipes on the internet, but how do I make that in the Cosori? How do I go about making all those delicious meals and recipes that everyone keeps talking about?
While you might want to jump in with both feet right away, it’s important to take your time and understand just exactly how the Cosori functions and works, especially if you’ve grown accustomed to another pressure cooker. Trust me on this one. The more that you can learn about the pressure cooker in the beginning, the fewer frustrations you’ll have later.
At first glance, it might appear that the Cosori Pressure Cooker has a million different buttons that seem to do a million different things. But don’t fret! This guide will help you navigate through each button and its function.
Before we get started check out my unboxing video of the Cosori 6Qt Pressure Cooker right on my youtube channel before we get started—
What is a Cosori Pressure Cooker?
While it has many of the same concepts and features of the Instant Pot, it does have a few other options that make it stand out. Mainly, people use it as a pressure cooker to quickly cook their meals. But with multiple programmable features, it offers a whole lot more choices than just that.
The Cosori Pressure cooker can cook, saute, reheat, and much more, any food or meal ideas that you have. It replaces 7 or more common kitchen appliances, clearing up much needed space on your countertops and cabinets.
Think of it as a pressure cooker/crockpot combo that can hold a ton of food. In fact, it creates meals that can feed up to 6 people, WITH leftovers!
Now that you know a bit about what it is, let’s go through the varying buttons and talk about how they can be used!
Cosori Meat & Stew Button
I use this function for beef and pork as it cooks it at just the right setting, ensuring the meat is moist and tasty. I do, however, know many people who prefer using the manual setting rather than the meat button. But I figure that if the button is there meats, then I’ll use it for meats. It was designed specifically for that function and is calibrated to deliver the best cooking experience possible for those varying types of meats.
It is also perfect for making stews!
Give these stew recipes a try:
Cosori Poultry Button
Same concept as the meat button but for chicken. It cooks chicken perfectly so that you can then shred it or keep it whole if you choose. The poultry button is one that I highly recommend using since chicken can be so easy to dry out.

Cosori Vegetable Button
Looking for a great way to steam or saute those delicious vegetables quickly and easily? This is the button you’re going to need. The great part about using this setting is that you can add in frozen or fresh veggies.
Cosori Steam Button
While you can use this to steam a wide variety of food items, this is the ideal setting for making hard boiled eggs. Vegetables can also be added in this setting to give a nice steamed flavor and taste.
If you have fresh zucchini or freeze fresh zucchini, this button is great for steaming Zoodles etc.
Cosori Saute Button
This function is going to be one that you’re going to love. The great part about using this as a multi-function pressure cooker is that you can basically do everything that you need to do in one pot. How nice is it not having to change out pans and making more work for you as you play hopscotch with the burners on the stove?
You can use this setting to saute some onions or brown your meat before finishing out the recipe on another function setting. Basically you can saute, simmer, and even pan fry right inside your pot with this button!
Try these recipes using the saute button:
Cosori Slow Cook Button
We’re all familiar with the slow cooker, right? The Slow Cook button is similar. It’s basically using your pressure cooker to act as a slow cooker which is super helpful when you have a recipe that you need to cook low and slow.
This allows you to “set it and forget it” while you’re doing other things throughout the day. You can cook various recipes using this button and the temperatures range from 180 degrees- 211 degrees. Pro Tip: Make sure to use the clear lid for this feature.
Here’s a few slow cooker recipes to try in your Cosori:
- Converting Slow Cooker Recipes to Pressure Cooker or Instant Pot
- Pumpkin Bread Pudding
- Apple Butter
- Chicken Chili
Cosori White Rice Button
This button is pretty much like it sounds. If you’re wanting to create the softest, most delicious, fluffy white rice, you can’t go wrong with tossing it into the pressure cooker and hitting the white rice button! I also use this function to make sticky rice for sushi.
You can give jasmine rice a try using this button.
Cosori Brown Rice Button
In case you didn’t know, brown rice cooks a bit differently than white rice. Thankfully, Cosori knows that and created its own separate button for you to have for just that reason. Cooking a batch of brown rice to add to your meal couldn’t be more simple than pushing this button.
Cosori Bean & Chili Button
There’s nothing quite like a delicious bean recipe. And just think about all the work that had to be done the day before you were able to cook bean, such as soaking them overnight! With the bean button on the Cosori, it removes the waiting period and gets those beans on your dinner table to enjoy in much less time.
It’s 100% factual that chili deserves its own button, well- technically it is shared with the beans but who is really counting?! Note: who says that chili has to be made just during the winter? This button will create your chili base with ease and all you’ll need to add are your chili filler ingredients!
Here are some of our favorite bean & chili recipes:
- Laura’s Football Chili
- Turkey & Sweet Potato Chili
- White Chicken Chili (Taco Time Copycat)
- Black Beans
- Cowboy Beans
Cosori Soup Button
This button will make your taste buds so happy. You’ll no longer have to worry about buying any of those canned soups from the store that are packed with sodium and other preservatives ever again. Just add in your ingredients, push the button, and in a short amount of time you’ll be enjoying a delicious bowl of hearty, warm soup.
Give these pressure cooker soups a try:
- Chicken Potato Soup
- Flu Fighting Chicken Soup With Spaghetti Squash
- Chicken Zoodle Soup
- Chicken Fajita Soup
- Pizza Soup
Cosori Multigrain Button
So the Multigrain feature is one that I use often. It is for oats and quinoa and other grains. Pushing this button takes the pressure (pun intended! lol) off! I love using my Cosori to make my favorite multigrain recipes!
These recipes should give you a good start with multi grain/oats
If you have not used a pressure cooker to make yogurt, you are missing out! Seriously!!! Yogurt in the Cosori is amazing! This button is the one you will want to select when going through the process. Makes it super simple! Once you get started making your own pressure cooker yogurt, I bet you will never buy store bought again.
This pressure cooker yogurt recipe is sooooo good!
Pasta & Boil Button
The pasta and boil button comes in super handy for all those wonderful pasta meals! This particular button has the superpower to boil water or liquids, plus allows you to cook pasta al dente!
My favorite pasta recipes:
Pressure Level Button
You have the option of varying pressures from light, medium and high depending on the need of the recipe. Make certain that you pay attention to this so that you don’t dry out or overcook the specific recipe.
This timer is great because it allows you to delay the pressure cooker from kicking on and cooking right away. If you know that you aren’t going to be home for an hour or so, you can use this setting to tell the Cosori to start cooking at a time more convenient to your schedule.
Keep Warm Button
We’re human and we make mistakes. Sometimes life throws curveballs at us and we have to adapt. Let’s say you cook your meal but then hubby calls and says he’s stuck in traffic or has to work late. What do you do? The Keep Warm button has your back! It will keep your food warm and ready until you’re ready to eat.
Cosori Manual Setting
Want to make a few adjustments to the cooking time? You can override and change anything that you want with the manual setting button. Just be careful that you know what you’re doing as you don’t want to try something new that you haven’t tested out before.
See how simple the Cosori Pressure Cooker can be?! Don’t be overwhelmed by all the buttons that are staring you in the face. Each of them has a very distinct use and purpose and will deliver great results time and again.
