Bible Lessons In the Kitchen

Bible Lessons in the Kitchen

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

I am always looking for creative and unique ways to teach my children about God. I feel it is important to show your child how you can incorporate God into every area of their life.

Today I wanted to share ways of bringing God into the kitchen for teaching young children! You can use any object and find a way to make it a great bible lesson in a fun and easy way!

So head off into the kitchen and start working on creating tasty dishes with your child while teaching them about God at the same time. These small lessons will help them learn and grow stronger in their Faith!

  • Kitchen Timer – God’s Timing

I set a timer often when I prepare a meal. Timers help me keep track of time so I don’t forget the cookies in the oven and end up with burnt chocolate chip cookies instead of perfectly moist cookies.

Think of the timer we set to ensure a perfect product as a timer that God sets for our lives. Teach your child that God is in control and He has a time and season for all areas of our lives.

Sometimes we might go through hardships, but it is only for a short period of time.  God’s timing is perfect in our lives like the timer is perfect for our cookies.

Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:14

  • Cookie Cutters – God Creates Us

After rolling sugar cookie dough to the perfect thickness, we shuffle through the drawer we keep the cookie cutters in to make our desired shapes. A cookie cutter creates a unique shape but creates the same shapes when used multiple times.

We’re not images of God created from cookie cutters. We are all different and beautiful in our own ways. Whereas cookie cutters create identical shapes, God created each of us differently.

Some of us are taller; we have beauty marks in different areas of our bodies; we have different voices. Unlike cookie cutters, we are all unique and that is what makes us so special!

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5

  • Spatula – God’ Turning Things Around

Spatulas are used for flipping hamburgers and grilled cheese. God can flip things around in your life. When you struggle with something, we can pray that God would remove these troubles by taking control and turning things around, similar to that of a spatula when turning meat.

It allows us to grow and learn from the issue we were facing! God has the power to change any circumstance we are faced with. And if we depend on Him, He will flip us over at exactly the right time. If we attempt to do it on our own, we might not be quite ready!

Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. Jeremiah 32:17
