Valentine’s Day treats are lining the shelves in every store across town. The heart-shaped sweets are begging for your attention. I really, truly, thoroughly enjoy creating themed meals and recipes to celebrate the holidays. It just makes sense to create this Air Fryer Bacon Hearts and Omelette recipe for Valentine’s Day! Anytime I can add bacon into my recipe, it’s always going to be a win.

The Air Fryer is incredibly versatile. If you’re new to the Air Fryer world, welcome my friends. It’s such a great appliance to have on hand.

Many people tend to think that everything that is cooked in an Air Fryer has to be fried. This a misconceived notion. Air fryers can also bake, grill and even roast foods. We use it for healthy eating and are super happy with the results. If you’re needing some simple tips on how to get started, check out How to Use an Air Fryer.

HOW AN AIR FRYER WORKS

Knowing how to use any appliance in your kitchen is step one and the Air Fryer is no different. You want to take advantage of its versatility and all of its capabilities. It’s actually quite simple, but there are a few tricks of the trade to keep in mind. The great thing about using an air fryer is that it literally uses air to cook. No grease and no greasy foods. However, keep in mind that there will be a tad bit of oil that you’re going to have to use, but it’s really minimal in comparison to other frying methods.

A lot of people try to skip the oil altogether but I really don’t recommend that. It’s one helpful tip to keep r the foods inside the air fryer from sticking. In hindsight, the oil is really important.

What are some other ingredients to add to your omelette?

Omelettes are the best. You can easily alter the ingredients to make them taste however you want. You want your omelets spicy? Try jalapeno. You want them cheesy? Sweet? Meaty? The possibilities are endless. Plus, they’re a really simple way to get a ton of great veggies into the mouths of your kids. While this recipe uses red bell peppers and spinach, you can add in onions, mushrooms, or whatever tickles your (or your kids) taste buds.

I’m a believer that there is always room for adding in more vegetables, so the more the merrier!

What is the trick for making omelettes fluffy?

Have you ever seen those fluffy omelettes and wondered how you could get your eggs to look just like that? I watch those cooking shows and think, “That’s not that hard.” The secret is easier than you think. Adding a few drops of water to your eggs right before you start whisking can help to create a fluffy omelette.

As the omelette cooks, water evaporates from the egg creating a much fluffier omelette.

Do you have to flip these omelettes once they’re in the Air Fryer?

You don’t! This is just one of the reasons that I love using this appliance! The way that it works is air circulates all around the inside of the machine.

Tips for using your Air Fryer

Even though this recipe is super simple, there are still a few things to point out that I think will be helpful. I’ve learned this through trial and error after many years of creating recipes and I’m more than happy to impart any knowledge I can with you.
  • If you’re making pre-cooked frozen food, you don’t have to add any type of oil.
  • Make certain to not overcrowd your Air Fryer with ingredients. This won’t allow the heat and air to circulate and can cause issues with undercooked or less desirable meals.
  • Make certain to have fun with your Air Fryer. You can buy some great accessories that can enhance your recipes, too!

As you can tell, there isn’t a lot that you need to really worry about before diving in and using your Air Fryer. It’s a great appliance that can cook a wide variety of foods. In fact, I get a ton of compliments on how awesome these Air Fryer Spicy Mexican Empanadas are. I recommend trying the empanada recipe next!

What toppings would go great on an omelette?

If you’re a fan of toppings, eggs are such a versatile food that easily works well with a variety of toppings and flavors.

Everyone has a different palate. If your palate prefers spice, try hot sauce, salsa, or freshly sliced jalapenos. If your palate prefers sweet, try berries or maple ham. The possibilities are endless.

Can you do anything with a leftover omelette?

That’s up for debate. I know a lot of people will put the leftover omelette in the trash or feed it to their dog. Call me old school here, or even frugal, but one way I like to use a leftover omelette is to create a tasty egg sandwich. Toast a couple of pieces of bread, add some mayonnaise or other condiments of your choice. It’s actually a simple and tasty treat that might actually become a requested meal in your home.
